Girraween Today

The February challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge inspired me to create another double page for my Girraween mini album:

Materials
Basic Grey Marrakech - Blue Nights patterned paper
Red zigzag washi tape
Simple Stories Life Documented- Bits & Pieces die cuts
Baker's twine

I'm also sharing this at:
* Simon Says Wednesday ~ Anything Goes

# # # # # # # #

And since I was working on the mini album, I added another double page too:

Materials
My Mind's Eye Cut & Paste - Adorbs - Hello - Greet patterned paper
Glitter washi tape
Dandelion cutting dies

I'm sharing this one at:
* Addicted to CAS ~ Wood.  I chose a woodgrain patterned paper.
* Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes

On this page, I added a lovely sentiment which I  found on the internet: The earth has music for those who listen - attributed to Shakespeare.

26/02/2016 Edit to add: I didn't recognise the quote so I decided to find out which piece of work it is from... and subsequently discovered that it is widely MIS-attributed to Shakespeare.  And also mis-attributed to Santayana.  One intrepid researcher has posted THIS INFORMATION which indicates it is a (misquoted) line from a poem by a self-published amateur poet.  Quoted/misquoted, attributed/ mis-attributed... either way, I still think it's a lovely sentiment!

Button
Baker's twine
MFT Die-namics - Little Letters alphabet dies

A tag...

I don't make tags very often, but I really loved this one at Tag You're It:

Stuck?! twice

This layout was inspired by the February 1st sketch at Stuck?! Sketches:

Materials

Bo Bunny Lil Monster - Tough Guy patterned paper
Simple Stories Daily Grind - Journalling Cards Elements card
Basic Grey Sublime - Raspberry patterned paper
Vintage book paper
Polka dot washi tape
Kaisercraft Enchanted Garden - Entrance patterned paper
Alphabet cutting dies (unknown brand)

I substituted a camera for the large star element, and used a single photograph instead of three.

I'm sharing this layout at Simon Says Monday for the Use Your Favourite Tool theme... once again using my guillotine to cut the patterned paper pieces, and my scissors to fussy cut the camera.  Also used my sewing machine for this one... I also LOVE adding stitching to my layouts.

I'd also like to share at Word Art Wednesday, for the Anything Goes theme.

> > > > > > > >

This layout was inspired by the February 15th sketch at Stuck?! Sketches:

Materials
Prima product packaging
Crate Paper Crush - Bands Tags & Frames die cut shape
Creative Imaginations Winter Garden - Winter Vine patterned paper
May Arts 1.5" Parrot Green net ribbon
Anerican Crafts Monograms - Sarah Script White alphabet stickers
Simple Stories Summer Vibes - Yellow Wood patterned paper

I'm sharing this layout at SanDee & amelie's Steampunk Challenge.  I hope it's okay ~ the layout is very clean and simple, but the theme is about a steampunk find by my Doctor Who-obsessed daughter.  I raided my "green scraps" ziplock bag for this layout, and I was pretty stoked to use up lots of different "forgotten stash" bits and pieces... stash-busting SCORE!

Rise and shine...

Looking forward to some scrapping time this weekend... and the "One Little Word" cyber crop at Mystical Scrapbooks.

This layout is my take on the first challenge, with the theme of LIGHT.  For me, the most beautiful light in the world is the sunrise:

Materials
Bazzill Basics Smoothies - Blackberry Swirl cardstock
Pink Paislee C'est La Vie - Paper #10 patterned paper
Simple Stories Carpe Diem - Bits & Pieces die cut pieces

I'm also sharing my layout at:
* Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper ~ Patterned paper.  Pink Paislee is one of my favourites!
* Country View Challenges ~ Under 30 minutes.  This was a very quick layout to put together - one piece of patterned paper and a large format photo... pretty much letting the photo do all the work on this page!  I also love how quick and easy it is to embellish with die cut ephemera.
* Word Art Wednesday ~ Anything Goes

+ + + + + + + + + + +

This page is based on the second cyber crop challenge with the theme of MOVE.  Train ride, anyone?

There's a new PhiloSOULphy challenge happening at Soul Scrappers, and I used the quote inspiration to create another double page for my Girraween mini album:

Blue paper clip

The quote this month is:  Live each day with a grateful heart.

More weekend cybercropping

I've done a bit of everything this weekend!

A quick look at my blog will tell anyone that I don't 'do' OTP projects.  So... one of the challenges at The Scrap Suite cyber crop has taken me out of my comfort zone this time.  The criteria was to create an off-the-page project featuring flowers.  This is what I came up with:

Materials
Becky Higgins Project Life - Jade Edition patterned paper
Vintage book paper
LuminArte Twinkling H2Os - Caribbean Mist watercolour paint
LuminArte Twinkling H2Os - Summer Breeze watercolour paint
Washi tape x2
Buttons from my habby stash

Here's a closer shot of the front panel

> > > > > > > >

Back to the pile of 2012 photos... and another pocket page... click to enlarge:

Materials
Simple Stories Sn@p! Insta-page inserts
Simple Stories Life Documented - Bits & Pieces die cut number
My Mind's Eye Collectable - Remarkable decorative tape
Bazzill Basics Fourz - Blue Oasis cardstock

This one was inspired by another cyber crop challenge at The Scrap Suite to "Create a project that features a grid style design." Nothing says "grid style" like a pocket page...

And last, a traditional layout... super simple, using up some more scraps. This one is also for the cyber crop, creating a project that features black and white:

Materials
Bazzill Basics Smoothies - Blackberry Swirl cardstock
Basic Grey Serenade - Shillings patterned paper
Vintage book paper
Technique Tuesday Hometown - Lowercase alphabet dies
May Arts 3/8"Solid Checkered - Black gingham ribbon
Green Tara Apple Blossom - Black flower

Point Cartwright

It's taken me a while to embrace pocket scrapping, but I'm getting there... every now and then I get a little burst of energy and do a few more pages.  I don't find it as relaxing as traditional scrapping because I need to plan ahead and print the right combination of photographs in the right size and orientation to match the inserts. For me, that removes some of the spontaneity and fun.  But, once I've got that part out of the way I do enjoy choosing the bits and pieces to embellish the pages.

This is a page that I made today:

Materials
Simple Stories Sn@p Insta-page insert
Simple Stories Sn@p Studio - Everyday filler card
Blue lace trim
Washi tape

I added the digital title to my photograph before printing, using Kimberly Geswein's gorgeous You Are Loved font.

I'm sharing this page at:

* Really Reasonable Ribbon ~ Hearts theme
I love the heart-themed map marker card, and I customised it with some scalloped trim:

* Clique Kits ~ Anything Goes
* The Paper Girls ~ With Heart
* Simon Says Monday ~ Young at Heart

Did I mention how much I love the heart-themed map marker?

**********

This is the next page in the album, a double page spread.  Click to enlarge:

Materials
Simple Stories Sn@p Insta-page inserts
Simple Stories Sn@p Studio - Everyday filler card
Creative Embellishments Lighthouse chipboard
Crate Paper Toybox - Alpha Labels letter stickers
Micador Collected & Co - Text Type Black letter stickers
Washi tape

I'm submitting this layout to the D-lish Scraps/Scrap Suite cyber crop for the LYRICS challenge. I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside - I thought this tune was from the 1930's or 1940's, but a little research told me it was written in 1907!

Cyber cropping

Another layout from our visit to Coalcliff, this one inspired by the colour challenge at The Scrap Suite cyber crop:

Materials
Cocoa Vanilla Sugar & Spice - Perfect Posies patterned paper
Cosmo Cricket Social Club - Swingin' patterned paper
Flourish with a Bling Jasmine - Gold laser flourish
Arctic Frog Alphabet Avenue - Garden Alpha letter stickers
Webster's Pages Make a Wish alphabet stickers

**********
A flashback to 2012... {And I suspect these are the last photos from our day at GOMA.. yay for the photo-busting!}

Materials
Bazzill Basics Smoothies - Blackberry Swirl cardstock
Bazzill Basics Fourz - Grenadine cardstock
Kaisercraft Quarters stencil
Imagine Crafts Creative Medium - Metallic Silver texture paste
Alphabet stencil from my stationery supplies

The challenge criterion: Use three or more stencils.  I used a patterned stencil for my background, and an alphabet stencil (which I then fussy-cut) for my title.   It looks pretty cool and 'industrial' in real life; this photograph just doesn't do it justice!

Woodford, again

I added another page to my Woodford mini album ~ making some steady progress!

Materials
Kraft cardstock
Collage Press Scrooge & Marley - December 24th patterned paper
Vintage book page
Baker's twine
Metal star washers (from the hardware store)
Fabric tag - RAK from Yvonne Yam @ LESSology

I'm sharing my page at:

* SanDee & Amelie's Steampunk Challenge ~ New Stash / Forgotten Stash
This is the first time I've joined in this challenge; I don't really do very much that fits into the steampunk genre.  I hope that this project fits the category - a vintage steam train ride and some metal cogs from the hardware store.  A short time ago I was sent a package of goodies which included the awesome fabric tag that I used on this page.  It's something new for me that I haven't used before.

* Creative Artiste ~ Mixed Media
A very clean mixed media page, with papers, metal, and fabric

* Clique Kits ~ Anything Goes

Vintage book paper
LuminArte Twinkling H2Os - Caribbean Mist watercolour paint

* Scrap Boutique ~ Summer mood board:

12/03/2016 Edit to add:  My layout was selected as a TOP PICK at Stamplorations!
